100 Facts about me
Let’s see if I can think of 100 facts that describe me.
- I never really liked my name. I don’t care anymore. I registered some domain names with my name in it, because they were still available. And at the same time, that’s kind of odd, since I share my name with some famous female singer. I don’t know her and her songs. But it’s a pain in the neck in search engines, having to share your real name with some celebrity. My username on most websites is Rosiewosie.
- I’m a girly geek. I like tech stuff.
- I have asthma and many allergies.
- Web design began as a hobby for me, and it really still is
- I am a steady (Macromedia) Fireworks user. I have been using it since 2001. And I don’t want to use anything else. I’m also very attached to the old Macromedia Fireworks. I have the new Adobe Fireworks. I just don’t like it as much. I prefer MX.
- In case you didn’t know already, I LOVE California ♥.
- I am addicted to pizza. Yes, I can live without it for a week, or longer. But I like it a lot!
- I drink Wiener Melange every day. It’s some sort of cappuccino like coffee.
- I have over 25000 photos. I can make photos of anything. And no matter how dull a subject really was, my photos usually turn them into something interesting.
- I have EVERY Sims game (Sim this, Sim that). I even have some games several times. For example, The Sims Livin Large. I have that one 5 times. Mainly due to Deluxe editions and collections.
- I bought The Sims Party AGAIN recently, just because of the different box art.
- I have EVERY Nintendo console.
- Half my apartment is filled with IKEA furniture. It’s cheap and fancy.
- One day I will have my own design and development studio.
- I love pink and leopard stuffz, and those two combined.
- I already had a webcam in 1999, which I think makes me one of the first ‘normal’ people with one of those. I still have that same webcam though. And I definitely need a new one. But I don’t like using it. So I couldn’t be bothered less.
- There isn’t a moment I am bored on my PC. I design, develop, game and learn constantly.
- My natural hair color is brownish/red. But I dye my hair brown/(bright)red/blonde from time to time.
- My mom is blonde, but has a darker skin than me.
- I converted many people from IE to Firefox. Anyone who hasn’t switched by now is just hopeless, and is also someone I won’t waste my time on.
- I gave birth to the first famous Sims baby. Yes, a famous Sims baby. Why? Well, his daddy, ChEeTaH is the webmaster of the well known Sims site The Sims Zone. And Seth’s mommy is of course me. I run several Sims sites, one of them being SimsNetwork (SimsNetwerk). We don’t know of any Sims famous webmasters as a couple who got a baby. So that basically makes us the proud parents of the first famous Sims baby.
- I dislike certain profile websites like IMVU, MeetYourMessenger and Hyves. I also dislike MySpace, don’t use it often. But I am on MySpace sometimes because of some of my friends. I hate people inviting me over and over again on the above mentioned profile sites. I will not join them.
- I used to have a PDA in stead of a normal cell phone. But it kind of broke down on me. And my 2yr subscription ended early this (2008) year. I will get a new PDA one day. But right now I don’t even have a normal cell phone.
- I am quite good at bowling.
- I love lemon ice cream.
- In 2006, I went away on four trips, of which three were to the States.
- I have a graphics tablet. The manufacturer however has gone bankrupt and now I can’t find any decent drivers. I still have drivers for Windows. But as I am a converted Linux user, I can’t use it under Linux.
- I have attended 16 events for games, mostly Sims and Spore.
- Before the release of Spore, I played four times with Spore.
- I like cars. And I watch Top Gear
- Everything I have learned (design and development) I have taught myself. I did that through Internet and paper books.
- I don’t feel ‘at home’ in The Netherlands. My home is in California.
- I hate, well no, I dislike gold jewellery. I prefer silver.
- For my own pleasure, I studied Latin and Greek.
- I have a white cat named Snowy.
- I buy books because I like them. Books to learn stuff from that is. I do not really read novels.
- Someday I will live in a Victorian house.
- It took me 22 years to find true happiness.
- I love all kinds of music, including classical music. But I prefer Britpop, Indie, Emo, Alternative and Ambient. My Last.fm account shows you what I like best. Just so you know, not even a tenth of all my favorite music is on there.
- I visited Paris once. And I don’t care what they say, but Paris isn’t the most romantic place on earth.
- Before launching SNW in 2004, I had a handful of other Sims sites. So I’ve been active within the Sims community since 2001.
- I played Simcity 2000 in German. Not so much because I preferred German. But I bought it while on vacation in Germany. And when I got home, it turned out to only have the German version on it.
- I am one of the few people with The Sims Collector’s Edition (a brownish pc cd-rom box with The Sims and The Sims Livin’ Large). Just so happens to be I do not know anyone with this game, except ChEeTaH! That’s funny.
- Someday I would like to learn the Chinese language.
- I have played the piano. Right now I don’t. Simply because I don’t have a piano around. I do have an electronic keyboard. But I don’t feel the need to play.
- I collect key cords, also known as lanyards. Preferably from games and consoles. I really don’t know how many PS2 key cords I have.
- I love Forever Friends bears. But I can hardly get Forever Friends products around here.
- I don’t have a credit card
- When I look at advertisements on television, vehicles, billboards, internet, products etc, I see the font first before I see what it’s about. I usually analyze to see whether or not I have that certain font. And I usually know which font is it. To complete this font geekiness, I rarely don’t have the font in my collection.
- My favorite radio station is KPCC.
- And my favorite program is A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor.
- I am a night person. And I really don’t like mornings.
- I have walked on the red carpet. Not because I wanted to, mainly because I had to. I was a VIP at The Sims Awards 2005. And because I was a VIP, I had to walk the red carpet
I did not enjoy it. - Right now, I have no famous (or infamous) person I would like to meet. I once had the wish to meet Will Wright, creator of The Sims. But I met him several times already. It was of course fun. But now I just don’t have any famous persons I would like to meet.
- My goal for 2008 is to upgrade and update *ALL* my websites and those of my clients. We’re talking about 20-30 websites here. So, yes, I’ve got some work to do
- I still want that Strawberry iMac. And I will get one!
- But I’d rather have a new iMac, you know, one that I can use.
- Half my Sims collection is Dutch and the other half is American. The Dutch PC cd-rom boxes are small, like a normal DVD box. American boxes are really, really big. This causes me to consider buying another add-on unit for my second desk.
- I have 1.5 desk right now. I do have two desks. But only one of them has an add-on unit. My desks came from IKEA. It’s from the MIKAEL series.
- I did a graffiti painting on canvas. My son now has that painting on his room.
- I had a geeky dream once, in which I dreamt about DOS
Don’t ask me why. Probably because I used DOS a lot back in those days - I still buy audio CD’s.
- People living in Europe usually visit Disneyland Paris if they want to visit a Disneyland park. That’s common. But I never visited Disneyland Paris. I did visit Disneyland California though.
- I have a very pink EA backpack.
- I also have a pink EA handbag.
- In the past, I have had 5 cats at once. I admit, it was sort of crowded.
- I read a news paper, every day.
- I am the female version of the ‘feed boy’. I am a feed girl. That means I collect RSS feeds and keep up with news, blogs and comics.
- I do not have an ipod.
- I listen all my music on my PSP. I am definitely picky, but the PSP has good audio quality.
- The last alcoholic drink I had was a Mojito in July 2006 while visiting Sofitel in Redwood City. I haven’t had an alcoholic drink ever since. Not because I have to stay away from it. Just because I don’t feel the need at all to drink alcoholic beverages.
- I built my first homepage in 1999.
- I am interested in all kinds of science.
- I designed my own business cards. However, the address isn’t accurate anymore, so I have to design and print new ones sometime soon.
- I also designed my own son’s baby birth card. I designed it in two languages.
- I am a baseball fan, and love to play it myself.
- There are hardly any baby and childhood photos of me. That’s something I don’t like at all. And I’ve decided to di it differently with my own kids.
- I don’t like camping. I prefer hotels. I have camped (with tent and caravan) before and I really don’t like insects crawling through my underwear and food.
- I can be addicted to chocolate. But right now, I haven’t eaten chocolate for over 4 months.
- I always disliked Frontpage. I ditched it when I discovered Dreamweaver (UltraDev 4). I can make web pages without Dreamweaver though. I haven’t used it since 2004 or so.
- I got pregnant even though I was on the pill, but it obviously didn’t help. Now, I am of course, even though it wasn’t planned at all, very happy with my son. But I don’t really trust the pill anymore because of this.
- My (Olympus) camera is very good with macro pictures. But it is horrible when it comes to batteries. I can put new or re-charged batteries in my camera and a few minutes later I have to change them again.
- I don’t like big crowds.
- My dad died when I was 17 (which was in 2001). And that was the same year I found out I had a little sister. Until this day, I don’t have any form of contact with my little sister. And I don’t like it. But it’s not up to me to take action, as her mother did not want her to know (yet). I have seen her once. That was in 2004. She is now 9 years old. But I don’t know where she lives. And she probably doesn’t even know I exist.
- I can and have worked with CAD and architect programs. Until I was 18, I was convinced I wanted to be an architect. I studied architecture. I didn’t like it enough.
- I hate Windows Messenger, MSN Messenger, MSN Plus and Live Messenger. I only use an account for msn because Dutch people are too ignorant to try something else.
- I am blessed with both creative and technical skills.
- I like tycoon games. I was a total RCT addict in the past.
- I can’t choose between my PSP and DS.
- I was baptized at the age of six.
- I’m unsure whether or not I will like The Sims 3 like The Sims 2.
- I still love Maxis’s Pinball game.
- I’ve never been on a passenger boat. Only a ferry
- Christmas is my favorite time of the year.
- I am a fan of Halloween, too bad we never had that here when I was a kid.
- The best movie snack is a bag or plain tortilla chips and a big Lays ‘french onion’ dip jar.
- I love ‘Aardappel Anders’, a jar of tasty bacon/onion sauce is my favorite potato dish.
- From Burger King I enjoy Twister fries the most
- When in the hospital after giving birth to Seth, my sweetheart brought me a blue cotton candy, because I wanted one for over a week.
- I could write another 100 facts about me if I had more time.
