I'm still working on the new website. Most of the posts (including artworks, blog posts and 365 posts from 2009, 2010 and 2011) are missing. These posts will return eventually. Thanks for your patience! :)

Magazines!

Submitted by Rosana on Wed, 2012-04-18 14:01

I ordered something this week, so when there was a guy at the door with this blue sack, I initially thought it was the stuff I ordered this week. And this was new for me too, to have my package in a blue sack? Well anyway, when I opened it, it turned out to be something else I ordered some time ago! My new magazines! Woooot!

  • ImagineFX: May 2012 issue
  • ImagineFX: How to draw and paint MANGA (volume 4)
  • ImagineFX: How to draw and paint GAME ART
  • CSS Design Essentials Vol. 2
  • Computer Arts presents: The design studio handbook

So happy! Now if only I could start working on the custom office furniture, then I'd have a place to store these beauties. ;)

ImagineFX order ^^

Submitted by Rosana on Thu, 2012-04-05 01:41

I ordered a LOT of magazines today from MyFavouriteMagazines. Mostly ImagineFX related, but also a few others. It's exciting because I haven't had anything delivered here yet.

Lots of Flow items!

Submitted by Rosana on Wed, 2012-04-04 23:47

I bought a couple of new Flow items. I already had the latest magazine, but I have a duplicate now. This is because the empty Flow book can only be bought as a combo with the latest magazine. It's okay. I might end up cutting bits and pieces of the duplicate magazine for inspiration haha.

London 2010: Day 4

Submitted by Rosana on Mon, 2010-10-11 22:00

Today we decided to take the bus tour. Which one? Yes, there are many bus tours you can take. We chose "The Original Tour", which was rather nice. We were able to use our "Bus Tours of London" ticket for other tours as well.

The reason we decided to take the bus tour, was simply because we could see more within a short amount of time, English commentary included. I also liked taking pictures of a lot of the famous buildings and places, like the Big Ben and London Eye.

We also walked all the way to Downing Street, only to find out I couldn't really take any pics there. What was I thinking anyway? It makes sense, but we didn't think about it. So there I was, making a picture of the street sign...

For some cold drinks and lunch, we went to Costa Coffee. We actually went there for coffee, but the machine was broken, so we couldn't get any coffee. I was happy enough with just a coke. We shared a pizza and chips meal, which tasted great!

For dinner, we visited Sherlock Holmes Pub and went upstairs to the restaurant. It has a lovely feel to it, as you can see on the picture below. The restaurant looks a lot nicer than you can see on my photo, but I didn't want to get the attention of the other dining people so instead of grabbing the decent camera I grabbed my iPhone. We had "The Retired Colourman’s", which, according to the website, is "Traditional English fish (crispy battered haddock), served with chips and mushy peas!"

Sherlock Holmes Pub (Restaurant)

Of course today I also purchased some more souvenirs, but after today we can't afford any more souvenirs. Besides some souvenirs, I bought a new book at Walker Books. It's called "The Official Dictionary of Sarcasm" and I love it.

Walking is more painful every day. I'm not sure how much longer I can last. I'm really in a lot of pain, don't think I'm a lazy person or someone without a decent level of endurance. I really have pain in my legs, which has more to do with my disease than with my willpower.

The taxi service today was okay. The taxi drivers are a bit rough, and the cars are usually sedan cars, so nothing too fancy. Tonight I really hurt my head when the driver drove on a road bump. Now I have the bump, on my head.

Hotel seems nicer every day, which is a bit weird. Our breakfast was nice. Again, a fixed place. But the girl helping us offered us coffee and spoke loud enough. I think she even smiled a little, which is pretty rare around here.

IKEA Catalog 2011 - Part 2

Submitted by Rosana on Thu, 2010-09-09 23:15

When searching for the new IKEA catalog last week, I did find the Dutch and Canadian catalogs, but I didn't see any US version yet. But I found it! Here are the Dutch, Canadian and American 2011 catalogs:

IKEA Catalog 2011

Submitted by Rosana on Sun, 2010-09-05 01:30

The new (Dutch) IKEA catalog came in today. I'm still sick so I was in the bedroom, on the bed, relaxing. I was happy to see the new catalog. I was sad to see some series and items disappear.

For example. I bought MIKAEL desks and add-on units in 2007 and 2008. They don't sell MIKAEL anymore. They replaced it with a new series called MICKE. It's definitely not the same. I'm not sure I would buy a MICKE desk if I didn't have a desk and needed one. This year, I wanted to replace one of my MIKAEL desks because it was broken. Lucky for me I decided to go with a completely different desk. Because the week I was looking online for a new solution, I found MICKE instead of MIKAEL. I ended up with a VIKA desk. So all is well.

Another example. HENSVIK baby furniture. They still have some items. But some other, older items are no longer being sold. I really wanted HENSVIK for our nursery, but we couldn't afford it, and we got a crib from someone else. So we never bought HENSVIK. I still like HENSVIK though. And I kind of promised myself I would buy a HENSVIK set when we had another baby, in the future. But now I won't be able to buy that HENSVIK dream nursery.

Third example. BARNSLIG. It's a series of children furniture, fabrics, toys and other items. They have been selling these since 2007 and the collection changed over the years, but now it seems most of the BARNSLIG series is gone. I'm glad I bought most of the series for Seth. He absolutely loves it. I don't really get why IKEA would remove a set from their collection without having a decent replacement set.

It seems the EXPEDIT and LACK series have been expanded with new items, but older items are also gone. I don't know what's up with that.

There are more items I will miss. But I do understand IKEA needs to update their collection from time to time. Although. Some items stay around for 20 years or so. I have one side table called HATTEN. It's been around for over 12 years at least. I'm sure. The first time I saw it in a magazine was when I was 14. I'm 26 now. Do the math.

This is the catalog cover. You can browse it online, if you want to. I couldn't find a US version yet. Maybe it's not being distributed yet. I don't know. The covers are usually different in many countries. This is the Dutch version.
