Inspiration

I'm still working on the new website. Most of the posts (including artworks, blog posts and 365 posts from 2009, 2010 and 2011) are missing. These posts will return eventually. Thanks for your patience! :)

Colourlovers

Submitted by Rosana on Tue, 2013-04-23 09:01

So in January I joined Colourlovers. And I'm glad I did. It has helped me get through the weeks when I couldn't do anything else (when the server had crashed and when I didn't have my Mac, or when I did have my Mac but couldn't save anything on it etc). Long story short. I joined in the second half of January and made 105 palettes, 162 patterns, 66 templates, 141 shapes and I own 106 colors. Yes apparently one can own colors.

Here is a small collection of some of the patterns that I created using my own templates and my own color palettes:

Fabulous! A Cup of Love Kick's Dots Olive Clovers Seafoam Sims Fancy Duckies Easter Duckie Mid-century Sims Welcome to my UFO Retro Rudolph Bla Bla Bla Orange Jester's Room London meets Paris Pink Freezer Bunnies Reticulating Splines Whovian Love Jester's Room Plumbob Bliss Awesome Stars Beam me down Happy Kids

One thing I really don't get though is how the site is called Colourlovers, yet the terms within the site are color. What's up with that?

Repairing old photos

Takes after her, looks like him...

Remember this picture I posted a while ago? It was a 365 post. I was pointing out how Seth doesn't look just like me, but also like daddy.

Although I never really post about this on my blog, or on special pages, I have repaired many photos in the past, if even a little.

In this post, I want to show the work I've done on this tiny picture of little Rosie.

Repairing old photos

This is a great example. This is me as a little girl. Now we didn't have too many photos of me as a little girl. Back then it obviously was a lot more expensive. People didn't have digital cameras. My mom took more photos of me than she actually had printed at the photo store. I'm glad we have digital cameras these days. I've made thousands of pictures from Seth. I'm so glad. There is no need to have all of them printed, I can just as well watch them on my PC. Another problem was that I really loved to create artsy pieces with pictures back then. Hence the odd shape of picture you can see above. Moving around every 1-2 years doesn't help either, many pictures got lost and were never found again.

Repairing old photos

As you can see, I restored damaged parts of the picture. I have drawn in details that have gone lost throughout the years. I've also made the background a solid, but textured color.

Repairing old photos

Finally I also changed the levels, removing most of the retro picture feeling, restoring original colors. I'm pretty proud I could restore and repair such a small and damaged picture.

I know it's not perfect, but it's pretty good in my opinion. I may repair more pictures in the future. :)

Rudolph's Christmas wallpapers

Submitted by Rosana on Sun, 2008-11-30 21:47

I created some new wallpapers yesterday. This time, nothing all too modern and shiny. No, this time I tried to create some classic wallpapers. At first I just wanted reds and greens. But after I'd finished those, a golden version was added. Then I looked and realized that I didn't have anything blue. And I love blue myself. Imagine that.

So here they are! If people like them enough, I may just create matching PSP and iPhone wallpapers.

    Fullscreen Resolutions:
  • 1600x1200
  • 1400x1050
  • 1280x1024
  • 1280x960
  • 1152x864
  • 1024x768
  • 800x600
    Widescreen Resolutions
  • 1440x900
  • 1280x800

Just click the color you want below:

Junior gets Walk of Fame star!

Submitted by Rosana on Mon, 2008-03-24 03:00

When we were in LA, ChEeTaH and I were discussing how I should make a custom star from the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I had been wanting to do this for a long time, but never really tried until today. I am proud to present to you, a vectorized custom Hollywood Walk of Fame star for Junior. I only used a photo I took as a reference. But every bit you see in the image below is vector drawn. How cool is that ;)

Los Angeles vector wallpapers [update]

I know I already posted these earlier this week. But Alex requested a widescreen version. Initially, I had only created standard resolution wallpapers. I have now added two widescreen resolutions (1440x900 and 1280x800):

3 DeviantArt Stamps

Submitted by Rosana on Mon, 2008-03-24 02:45

I made three stamps for DeviantArt yesterday. The first is a Fireworks MX stamp. I am a loyal Fireworks user, for 7 years now. I have tried newer versions (I have an old version of MX), but I just don't like the newer versions. I know the newer versions have options that the older MX version doesn't have.

But I don't care!

I don't want to switch to a newer MX. And I certainly don't want to switch to Fireworks CS3. That's why I made that stamp. It's very personal. But others are free to use it on DeviantArt if they want to.

The second stamp I made was a stamp for The Sims 3. Even though I am not too thrilled at this very moment when it comes to news and screens from The Sims 3, there's a good chance that other people are fans already. So I made this stamp. For me personally, I won't be using it on my DeviantArt. I am not done with The Sims 2 yet. And what I've seen so far, doesn't get me too excited either.

The third stamp is basically a smaller version of my Los Angeles vector. When I start using stamps, I want to express my love for Los Angeles :)

Here are the stamps. You can click on them to view them on DeviantArt, but the below images have the actual sizes:

Junior's Wall of Fame / Idols Logo

Submitted by Rosana on Mon, 2008-03-24 02:23

I don't know how or why. But this evening, an idea came to my mind. An Idols logo for Junior. Junior considers himself to be a big star, a well known celebrity, you know, Junior matters! So this logo should suit his 'Wall of Fame' page well. This page is full of people who have had their picture taken with Junior.

Retro Summer Scrapbooking Textures #1

Submitted by Rosana on Sun, 2008-03-23 20:20

I created a few scrapbook textures yesterday. You can also use them for other things, like a website. But the main purpose I made them is for people to print their own scrapbook paper. The textures are all in jpg format. There are 8 textures in bright, happy colors. And the sizes are 256x256. If you want me to make and release another set with 128x128 textures, let me know. I can do that as well in a few seconds.

Please do not use them for anything other than personal things, like scrapbooking. If you decide to use them on a website, please at least credit me for it.

I made these vectors back in 2005. I don't think I will be using them (again) on Miss Design, but I consider them good enough to be placed on my portfolio.
